Be The Church

04/18/2022

If you have been following my weekly sermons you may have noticed I have been dealing with the words of Jesus. You can hear them sometimes on YouTube but all of them when you come to the church in person. There are 1599 verses in the New Testament attributed to Jesus. Almost all of them are found in the four gospels.

What does that tell us? It tells us that Jesus had a lot to say and the disciples put down the important ones. Interestingly, Arthur Hinds published a book in 1927 that chronicles all of them so we don't have to go looking for them. Some of us have bibles that have the words of Jesus in red. Oh, and just so you know, Hinds book is scanned on the internet for us to have easy access to.

In many ways, Jesus words are there to guide us and direct us through life. Many of the things He told the people of His time are still very relevant for us today. Why? Maybe because we read in the bible the verse that tells us, God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His nature never changes, His goal is always the same and His word change people and make life worth living because He is here even now.

Over the last few years our lives have changed. Covid has changed us. The lockdown changed us and we are all walking scared. We have become a world living in fear. Many of us were in church every week to discover everything about following Jesus. Rick Warren put them in these next five words; worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism.

Where are they today? The lockdown eliminated them from our lives. We all know that if we do something for 21 days it becomes a habit. But the same thing is true when we stop doing something for 21 days. First going to church was lost, but we still have our faith, watching church on line slowly fell by the wayside until 21 Sundays later . . . it too was gone. Well, when was the last time you read your bible. That is why I'm seeking to reintroduce the bible to all of you. Every Sunday, on site or on line we are working to regain our spiritual lives, by stepping out and regaining them one day at a time. Restart your life changing journey and do it now.

We need to do it together and then get together and be the church once more. Are you with me?

Something to think about & . . .

Rob
