Clap Your Hands

02/14/2022

"If you're happy and you know it, . . . What words would you put in the last phrase? Yes, I know it's a kids song that we sang when we were in Sunday School. But did you know it wasn't just a church song. It was just a kids song to cheer all kids up. In the original there were four verses which said: Clap your hands, Tap your toes, Nod your head, Clap your hands. The best verse was one someone else created on their own: Stamp your feet.

For the third time in two years, as the cases are dropping we need to be happy about what is starting happen. The Prime Minister and Premier have both mentioned lifting restrictions. It really sounds promising. And I noticed when I was at the store, people seemed to look relieved. People chatted and seemed more at ease.

Back to the question. What words would you interject in this phrase? If you have one, keep reading. In the original copy of the song the descripted phrase was not, "and you really want to show it, clap your hands". It actually said: "then your face will surely show it". Now add the adjective of how you will show it. Soon and very soon, we will be able to remove the mask and we won't have to tap our toes, our face will radiate our happiness and joy and peace and love and . . . you again supply the action you will be doing.

I came across this verse today and it puts it in proper perspective to this time in History. Matthew writes; 3:8 "If you have really turned from your sins to God, produce fruit that will prove it!" I believe that the reality of a children's song, uses our way of following Christ and we don't have to say a thing or stamp our feet or clap our hands. "It will be evident to all" Phil 4:5. It's time to again let Jesus show through, don't you think?

Something to think about.
