It's Not About Guilt

07/18/2022

Many times in the last few years I have hear more people blaming others for what's going on in the world. It's sort of a name game. As a child I remember in our house the line, "It wasn't me, it was ....." Not much seems to have changed as many people blame others even as they go through adulthood. Even when it is our fault, we find those telltale words coming out of our mouth; "No Not Me".

Maybe I'm being pessimistic or something but this world is full of people who blame everyone else in their life for the poor choices in life that they have made. A child blames their parent. Here's another one; "I became a thief because my neighbour never locked their door". Nothing is anyone's fault; it's always someone else's. Really? I guess it's easy to point blame, then to take the blame.

How many times have you done something wrong and just tried to hide the truth. Every one of us has something in our lives that we never want anyone to find out about. What happened to all those times when confession won the day and you could move forward being a better person and learned that telling the truth was the right thing to do.

So how can we fix this in our lives and the lives of all the children who no longer know what telling the truth is all about? I have a unique solution. Let it start with you. And just in case you forgot, Jesus came and showed us how we can go to God and ask for forgiveness. How often have you heard anyone say; "I'm sorry. Will you forgive me?"

It all begins with us. We need to relearn that God is in the forgiving business. He's not going to beat us over the head, Disappointed with us maybe but He wants to give us freedom, forgiveness and a fresh start.

I've noticed that people still have a spiritual nature. But many more have forgotten the gift of God, eternal life. Many of them have forgotten there is a heaven and a hell. The change starts with us when we say we are sorry and take the blame for our messed up lives.

Never forget about heaven and the rewards of taking the blame when it is us that mess up. He will forgive and more importantly forget that the eternity that is our starts today. Let's pray . . . .

Something to think about
