The LIGHT of the World

11/15/2021

If the stores can do it, then why can't we? Actually, I think and believe we should be the driving force at Christmas. Unfortunately we are now taking a back seat when it comes to Christmas. This is due to the secular world taking over Christmas. The driving force of Christmas today is not the Light of the World but the fake light found in our stores and society. We are bombarded by imitation lights, twinkle lights, LED lights etc. Something to do with "City sidewalks, busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style . . . It's Santa's big scene".

So, let's start right now and celebrate Christmas as soon as the world does with their fancy displays and imitation this and that. It's our celebration and if the world wants to start the day after Remembrance Day, what better day to start for all of us who know Christmas is about Christ. Advent consists of four words. All of which have a huge influence and impact on what we believe and what we believe about the true essence of Christmas. We have on Nov 28., HOPE, then PEACE, JOY & LOVE.

I'm not trying to change the tradition here of these significant words but let's just pick a couple more to fill in Nov 14 & 21st. I'm going to take a step of faith, by suggesting that this past Sunday could be The Sunday of Light. Isn't that what this whole Christmas thing is all about anyway? We are constantly living in a dark world looking for some sliver of light. A week ago there was a significant event where most of the northern hemisphere was bathed in the Northern Lights. The world starred up into the night sky looked for this phenomenon and were so happy to see it. But then, who has talked much about it since? We need a permanent, daily encounter with Christ who told us that He is the light of the world.

Did you realize this world cannot develop the reality of real light. Not here in this world, or anywhere. The light we have created is a reflection of what's above, and for all of us, it is not the source. The same is apparent in the light that lives within each one of us when God's Light in the person of Jesus Christ came and lit up not just a few hearts but the whole world. God's light permeates our whole life and existence. After He told us He was the light of the world, He said we are the light of the world. Shine Jesus Shine.

Two weeks early is a great Sunday were we can focus on: The LIGHT of the world!

Something to think about
