Not Just Spring - It's Easter
We are only days away from Easter. In some cases, we have clawed our way back to a firm relationship with God and His Son Jesus. For others, the conversation continues as the relationship with Christ has only grown stronger with each passing day. I guess that is why Easter is so important. It makes us recognize something that is so essential and so life giving, and so worth the struggles. And that something is actually someone.
Getting to Easter is the one relationship we need in life that makes the rest of our life so amazing. I'm not saying the worldly relationships are not important. I'm just saying, the one with Christ presents us with the one thing that is most important. Our friends can't give us eternal life but maybe they are the relationships that can point us to Christ who is the most important person in the room.
And this coming Sunday is the day! It's been pretty cold this winter in many ways, even more noticeable these past few weeks. As I write this the temperatures are starting to increase, the bulbs are growing, the grass is green and spring is almost here. It's all those new beginnings we anticipate as we shake off the winter blasts. It is also the time we shake off the coolness we notice in our heart.
I learned a long time ago, that spring usually showed up when Easter arrived. This year is no different. And just as all the Easters before this, this year is special. It is that moment in time when we come to the cross, admit through our cold heart that Christ can and will warm our hearts when we ask and He gives us forgiveness and a renewed life. We are living eternal life today. It came when we turned to Him for forgiveness and a clarity that we can't save ourselves but we can know we have life in Him even now.
Lent has been the journey to restoration and revitalization. It's getting back to what's important and sharing it with a world that has no idea. It's not just getting back to church but it's shouting out: "He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed."
